Managing production processes and maintenance activities including major overhauls for diesel locomotives, rail tankers and various types of wagons
-Directing maintenance operations of the Motive Power Depot to achieve target levels of availability, reliability and safety of locomotives, related plant and equipment to meet or exceed traffic requirements at least cost. -Ensuring that all performance standards are met, work activities are carried out as per laid down procedures and monitoring adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements regarding safety, health and environment -Leading FMECA committee meetings and conducting Root Cause Analysis in order to optimize preventive and predictive maintenance of locomotives and depot equipment. -Preparation of staff budgets, material requirements planning and controlling expenditure by monitoring adherence to maintenance standard times as well as conducting budget variance analysis. - Improved locomotive weekly scheduled service compliance by 20 % through effective planning and resource utilization.
Hands on training on the maintenance, repair and refurbishment of Diesel Electric locomotives (CAT 3512 and EMD 645 engines), wagons, workshops plant and equipment including compressors, boilers, generators and overhead cranes.
